Ohio State and the Big 10: Defrauding College Football Fans Two Years Running

Ohio State...yes, the same Ohio State that did not play a single team in the top 20 at game time. The same team that lost to the only other good team in the Big 11. The same team that won the weakest conference in the BCS and did so only because Illinois wet the bed against Michigan. The same team that played the 43rd toughest schedule (according to CBSsportsline) while Virginia Tech played the 4th toughest schedule and Georgia played the 21st toughest schedule gets the chance at a national title thanks to the great BCS. As the gentlemen at the Big Lead noted, if you learned anything after watching this year's college football slate it should be that a team has ZERO incentive to schedule tough opponents. Why play tough teams when your schedule strength goes unnoticed by the voters?

Oklahoma played and equally average schedule (44th), yet they have quality wins over Texas and Missouri (twice) but they lose out to an Ohio State team whose best win came against a VERY average Wisconsin team. Virginia Tech played the 4th toughest schedule this year while LSU and Georgia played schedules that ranked in the top 26 yet Ohio State, after having won a conference with only 3 ranked teams (and losing to one of them) gets to play for the title. We, as college football junkies at the Gods of the Gridiron, can only hope for a repeat of last years raping of Ohio State.

Right now if Ohio State were to play UGA, USC, LSU or Oklahoma on a neutral field they would be underdogs yet they are #1. But yes, Greg Saunders, this is the best system in place. The same system that puts Kansas in the BCS over Missouri when the Tigers beat Kansas head to head...one freaking week ago. The same system that puts #13 Illinois in the BCS over the same Missouri team as well as a higher ranked Florida and Arizona State team.

The most exciting sport in America gets to what should be the great conclusion and instead of waiting to see 7 amazing games (8 team playoff) we get to see a bunch of computers spit out an undeserving team to play for all of the marbles. What makes this even worse is that we have to hear it from Fox...oh the horror. When we should be seeing LSU play Oklahoma and USC play Georgia we instead get to see Virginia Tech playing Kansas (yes, that Kansas) and Hawaii playing in a BCS bowl game. What a sad state the college football world currently lives in.

The ultimate loser in this scenario is Missouri. How can one team go from number one in the country to out of the BCS in 1 day? More importantly, how can teams like Kansas and Illinois get in over Missouri? What do Kansas and Illinois have in common? That's right, Missouri beat them both.

The BCS only allows two teams from the same conference to reach BCS games. That is why Florida didn't get a bid, but I still can't understand why Kansas is going to be in the Orange Bowl. "How can one team go from number one in the country to out of the BCS in 1 day?", asks Great Odin's Raven. The answer is that this is the f$ck%ng BCS.

I know that the rule states that only 2 teams from a conference can go but why? Why punish a conference that has 3 great teams? It makes zero sense.
