Bowl Mania Begins Tonight...Can You Feel The Excitement?

The 2007/08 bowl season begins tonight with Utah taking on coach-less Navy. With this marking the beginning of the end for this college football season we here at the Gods will predict each of the 32 bowl games with spectacular insight (ok, that last part was total bullshit). Let's get this started with the breakdown of the epic San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. On a short aside, could someone please explain to me why in the hell the good folks of San Diego could not have come up with a better name for a bowl game? That sounds like a financial seminar for the retired community of San Diego and not a bowl game. You guys are better than that. With that over, here is the breakdown of the first of many shitty...I mean fantastic bowl games.

Utah 31 - Navy 20

If Paul Johnson was still the coach of Navy their chances would have increased greatly. Sadly for Navy, he is gone. Utah has a stout defense (something that Navy does not have) and should be able to stymie the option game as they have had plenty of time to study it. Utah is well coached and has some deceptive speed (read: fast for a bunch of white kids) and should be able to score many-a-point on one of the worst defenses in the nation. Although I suppose when you put all of your effort in defending a nation you can only do so much on a football field. I am sure the ratings for this game will be through the roof thus making the good people of San Diego very happy. There is no truth to the rumour that next year's game will be named the Bank of San Diego's Free Student Checking Chrysanthemum Bowl.
