Clemens Going Down...Does Anyone Care?

Roger Clemens is getting a mixed bag on the Hill today. At one point a Congressman from Missouri (can't remember his name) asked what uniform Clemens would wear into the Hall of Fame. This was followed by Chairman Waxman's hammering of Clemens about his little discussion with his ex-nanny. Brian McNamee has looked both good and horrible today with the highlight coming when a Republican from Indiana (aren't they all Rep's in Indiana?) grilled McNamee on his false statements from the past. McNamee looks like the classic snitch in that he most likely is telling a great deal of truth but the fact that he is shady as hell will certainly open himself up to attacks.

On a personal level, I honestly don't care about the steroids issue. I know, I must be a horrible person. While ESPN et al. would like you to think this is the most important issue of the year I simply don't buy it. Fans went to baseball games in record numbers last year and whether people (read: the Media) want to admit it or not they like the home runs and the freakish size of the players. Watching a 2-0 baseball game is nice every now and then but let's be real. A 7-5 game is much more enjoyable to most people and therein lies the problem which baseball faces. While the media and the Congress want these drugs out of the game they are good for business and baseball is a booming business.
